Joy was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She went to George Mason University to study Elementary Education and played lacrosse all 4 years there. She fell in love with the Montessori method in a Children's House classroom in Northern Virginia where she worked for 3 years before moving to Newport News with her husband, Denny. She feels very fortunate to be a part of the Elementary classroom here at HRIMS and looks forward to continuing to grow and impact the children around her through this wonderful teaching philosophy.
Elizabeth holds an Associate's Degree in early childhood education and is a trained Montessori Guide holding an associate credential from the American Montessori Society for the Early Childhood. In her free time, she enjoys practicing Krav Maga, Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and Muay Thai. She is also teaching herself how to play the ukulele and continues to practice her skills on the piano.
Yolanda Lopez was born and raised in the Bronx, New York and is of Puerto Rican descent. For over 25 years she has lived in Virginia with her family. Her love for children led her to our school community 14 years ago. In addition to her role as an assistant, Yolanda enjoys leading summer programs at HRIMS. The Lopez family has 3 daughters and the youngest Yesenia attends HRIMS. A busy family life keeps Yolanda filled with enthusiasm. Yolanda enjoys getting lost in a good book. Her passion is to continue her education at Saint Leo University.
Jesmarie was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She lived 18 years in Puerto Rico and moved to Virginia in 2009 . Jesmarie is fluent in English and Spanish . Her family is full with her amazing husband and two beautiful children. For over eight years Jesmarie has let her passion for helping children be her guide. She has been able to see different stages of development from toddlers all the way to 6 years old. The children love the energy she brings to the classroom. She loves music , dancing , singing and art and creativity. She began her career with HIRMS 3 years ago and it's been a great experience. One of Jesmarie's goals is to continue with school and pursuing a early childhood education degree .
Ann Gomaze Howard Paul
Ann is from the beautiful island of Jamaica. Prior to immigrating to the United States Of America Ann studied at the Northern Caribbean University and pursued a bachelor of science in Guidance and Counselling. Her quest for exploration landed Ann in the United States Of America , the place she has called home for the past eight years. She enjoys working at Hampton Roads International Montessori School. It is a rewarding experience, and she enjoys working with children from various cultural backgrounds. When Ann is not working she enjoys sewing and spending time with my family.
Megan lives with her husband and four children in Hampton. In her free time loves traveling, photography and arts and crafts. Megan is in her second year with HRIMs and her ninth year as a Montessori assistant
Nathali was born in Lima, Peru and moved to the states at a very young age. Her parents raised all their seven children in Queens, New York and although life was rough in the beginning her parents always made sure that necessities were met. Nathali moved to Virginia with her husband and son about fifteen years ago believing that after 911 New York was no place to raise a family. Nathali believes that family comes first, a concept that was instilled at a very young age by both of their families. They enjoy spending as much of their free time together with their son. Whenever possible they include Brownie, their loveable and playful dark-dark chocolate labrador.
Joanmarie Santiago was born in HUMACAO, Puerto Rico. She attended El Turabo University in Caguas, Puerto Rico and moved to Virginia in 2016 to be close to her family. Joanmarie enjoys music, dancing and sports and loves working with children. She joined HRIMS in March 2017 and says that it's been a great experience.
