Ms. Joy was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She went to George Mason University to study Elementary Education and played lacrosse. She fell in love with the Montessori method in a Children's House classroom in Northern Virginia where she worked before moving to Newport News with her husband, Denny. She feels very fortunate to be a part of the Elementary classroom here at HRIMS and looks forward to continuing to grow and impact children through this wonderful teaching philosophy.
Ms. Elizabeth holds an Associate's Degree in early childhood education and is a trained Montessori Guide holding an associate credential from the American Montessori Society for Early Childhood. In her free time, she enjoys practicing Krav Maga, Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and Muay Thai. She is also teaching herself how to play the ukulele and continues to practice her skills on the piano.
Ms. Yolanda was born and raised in the Bronx, New York and is of Puerto Rican descent. For over 25 years she has lived in Virginia with her family. Her love for children led her to our school community over 14 years ago. In addition to her role as an assistant, Ms. Yolanda enjoys leading summer programs at HRIMS. A busy family life keeps Ms. Yolanda filled with enthusiasm. Ms. Yolanda enjoys getting lost in a good book. Her passion is to continue her education at Saint Leo University.
Ms. Jesmarie was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She lived for 18 years in Puerto Rico, before moving to Virginia. Ms. Jesmarie is fluent in English and Spanish. She loves spending time with her family. For over eight years, Ms. Jesmarie has let her passion for helping children be her guide. She has been able to see different stages of development from toddlers all the way to six years old. The children love the energy she brings to the classroom. She loves music, dancing, singing, art and creativity. She has been a constant in the HRIMS toddler and summer programs. One of Ms. Jesmarie's goals is to complete her early childhood education degree.
Anngomaze Howard Paul
Ms. Anngomaze is from the island of Jamaica. Prior to immigrating to the United States Of America, Ann studied at the Northern Caribbean University and pursued a bachelor of science in Guidance and Counseling. Her quest for exploration landed Ann in the United States Of America, the place she has called home for over nine years. She finds working at Hampton Roads International Montessori School to be a rewarding experience, and she enjoys working with children from various cultural backgrounds. When Ms. Anngomaze is not working, she enjoys sewing and spending time with her family.
Ms. Megan loves spending time with her husband and four children. She also loves animals and has many pets of her own. In her free time, she loves traveling, photography and arts and crafts. Ms. Megan is has worked with Montessori for over nine years. She is well-versed in the abilities of those with special needs and is an advocate for Montessori education.

Ms. Kelsey is no stranger to HRIMS. She has been a daily substitute teacher and is well-known by all of the students. She is now a member of the Lower Elementary classroom team. Ms. Kelsey is a state certified teacher, experienced at the elementary level. Ms. Kelsey truly believes in the Montessori philosophy, and instills those values both at work and at home, as her children are also part of the HRIMS community.
Ms. Kelsey enjoys spending her free time with her family, crafting, doing puzzles, reading, and playing games.
Ms. Joanmarie was born in HUMACAO, Puerto Rico. She attended El Turabo University in Caguas, Puerto Rico and moved to Virginia in 2016 to be close to her family. Ms. Joanmarie enjoys music, dancing and sports and loves working with children. She joined HRIMS in March 2017 and says that it's been a great experience.
Ms. Alisha was born in Newport News VA. She lived for a few years in Norristown, Pennsylvania as a child. She now lives in Hampton with her husband and her five beautiful children, four girls and one boy.
Ms. Alisha has worked with children between the ages of six weeks to twelve years of age for over eighteen years. Her love and interest for working with children led her to Montessori. She began her HRIMS career in 2016, and has worked in both our Toddler Community and our working Children’s House programs over the course of her tenure here.
