Ms. Joy was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She went to George Mason University to study Elementary Education and played lacrosse all 4 years. She fell in love with the Montessori method in a Children's House classroom in Northern Virginia where she worked for 3 years before moving to Newport News with her husband, Denny. She feels very fortunate to be a part of the Elementary classroom here at HRIMS and looks forward to continuing to grow and impact children through this wonderful teaching philosophy.
Ms. Elizabeth holds an Associate's Degree in early childhood education and is a trained Montessori Guide holding an associate credential from the American Montessori Society for Early Childhood. In her free time, she enjoys practicing Krav Maga, Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and Muay Thai. She is also teaching herself how to play the ukulele and continues to practice her skills on the piano.
Ms. Yolanda was born and raised in the Bronx, New York and is of Puerto Rican descent. For over 25 years she has lived in Virginia with her family. Her love for children led her to our school community 14 years ago. In addition to her role as an assistant, Ms. Yolanda enjoys leading summer programs at HRIMS. The Lopez family has 3 daughters and the youngest, Yesenia, attends HRIMS. A busy family life keeps Ms. Yolanda filled with enthusiasm. Ms. Yolanda enjoys getting lost in a good book. Her passion is to continue her education at Saint Leo University.
Ms. Jesmarie was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She lived for 18 years in Puerto Rico and moved to Virginia in 2009. Ms. Jesmarie is fluent in English and Spanish. She loves spending time with her amazing husband and two beautiful children. For over eight years, Ms. Jesmarie has let her passion for helping children be her guide. She has been able to see different stages of development from toddlers all the way to six years old. The children love the energy she brings to the classroom. She loves music, dancing, singing, art and creativity. She began her career with HIRMS three years ago, and it's been a great experience. One of Ms. Jesmarie's goals is to continue with school and pursuing an early childhood education degree .
Ann Gomaze Howard Paul
Ms. Ann is from the beautiful island of Jamaica. Prior to immigrating to the United States Of America, Ann studied at the Northern Caribbean University and pursued a bachelor of science in Guidance and Counseling. Her quest for exploration landed Ann in the United States Of America, the place she has called home for the past eight years. She enjoys working at Hampton Roads International Montessori School. It is a rewarding experience, and she enjoys working with children from various cultural backgrounds. When Ms. Ann is not working, she enjoys sewing and spending time with her family.
Ms. Megan lives with her husband and four children in Hampton. In her free time she loves traveling, photography and arts and crafts. Ms. Megan is in her second year with HRIMS and her ninth year as a Montessori assistant.

Ms. Nathali was born in Lima, Peru and moved to the states at a very young age. Her parents raised all their seven children in Queens, New York and although life was rough in the beginning her parents always made sure that necessities were met. Ms. Nathali moved to Virginia with her husband and son about fifteen years ago believing that after 911 New York was no place to raise a family. Ms. Nathali believes that family comes first, a concept that was instilled at a very young age by both of their families. She enjoys spending much of her free time together with her husband and son. Whenever possible they include Brownie, their lovable and playful dark-dark chocolate labrador.
Ms. Joanmarie was born in HUMACAO, Puerto Rico. She attended El Turabo University in Caguas, Puerto Rico and moved to Virginia in 2016 to be close to her family. Ms. Joanmarie enjoys music, dancing and sports and loves working with children. She joined HRIMS in March 2017 and says that it's been a great experience.
Ms. Alisha was born in Newport News VA. She lived for a few years in Norristown, Pennsylvania as a child. She now lives in Hampton with her husband and her five beautiful children, four girls and one boy.
Ms. Alisha has worked with children between the ages of six weeks to twelve years of age for over eighteen years. Her love and interest for working with children led her to Montessori. She began her HRIMS career in 2016, working in our Toddler Community and now enjoys working with our Children’s House students.
