Financial Assistance Opportunities
Financial Aid at Hampton Roads International Montessori School has a two-fold purpose, to provide deserving students the opportunity for a high quality education which otherwise might be unobtainable for them; and provide HRI Montessori with a student body reflecting a broad social and economic mix. For these goals to be achieved, it is essential that the ability to pay the full tuition not be the deciding factor in determining whether or not a promising young student may attend Hampton Roads International Montessori School.
The student must have completed the application process and have been accepted by HRI Montessori prior to Financial Aid processing. Financial assistance provided by HRI Montessori through the Clarity program applies only to those students entering the children’s house and elementary programs. Assistance for toddlers is only available through the Childcare Aware and Virginia Subsidy programs listed below.
Funds are not reserved for families whose applications or tax forms are received late. Financial aid awards are re-evaluated every year. Financial aid is limited and not guaranteed.
Financial information submitted by parents in support of Aid applications is held in confidence. Financial Aid applicants are not identified at HRI Montessori, except as necessary to qualify them individually for designated scholarships.
Hampton Roads International Montessori School is a non-profit, 501(c)3 educational organization that does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age,

The application is mobile-friendly and fully translated into Spanish.
Applications must be fully completed and submitted NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 20TH to be received by HRI Montessori in time for priority consideration. Promptness in meeting deadlines is vital. Funds are not reserved for families whose applications or tax forms are received late.

Step 3
US taxpayers: Complete the Clarity Enhanced Tax Verification (ETV) process to release your W2 and personal tax return transcripts from the IRS. You'll be asked to authorize the sharing of your tax transcripts and verify your identity. This is a one-time security measure required by the IRS to protect against identity theft and the compromise of personal information. Only those filing US taxes will be prompted to complete this step. Clarity offers two options for enhanced tax verification process: “Clarity” and “IRS”. Please reference the Tax Verification Guide to preview the steps of this process.
Parents/guardians who successfully completed this process last year will not be asked to go through this process again. Upon submission of their application, the IRS will automatically release their tax transcripts to us based on last year’s authorization.
The IRS pathway is significantly faster, allowing for the tax documents to transfer to Clarity within 24 hours. For this reason, any applicant who applies after February 1st will need to select the IRS pathway in order to meet our priority deadline. Clarity has found that families who have an IRS.gov account before starting the Clarity Application have a much easier time completing the process.
Step 4
Enter your financial information, review your application, and pay the $65 Clarity application fee.
Step 5
Submit your Clarity application and follow the link to return to your dashboard. Here you will see any additional supporting documents requested by schools. Upload your supporting documents by February 20th. Keep in mind that at a later date you may be prompted by the school via Clarity to upload additional documentation as needed.
International families will be prompted to upload income verification in the form of a paystub or employment letter stating salary, and a copy of tax documents from their country, as applicable. Please provide these with English translation.
